By the end of 2018, most of us will be spending atleast £150 billion globally on anti-ageing products.More than 50,000 people are undergoing cosmetic surgery every year in the UK, so as to get rid of the wrinkles and dry skin. All these people tend to overlook the few simple ways to maintain their face looking younger.Dr Julian De Silva, Harley Street facial cosmetic surgeon, stated that patients could age their faces by nearly ten years by making bad lifestyle alternatives.

He opines that ageing happens to all of them but, little exercise, poor diet, too much booze and smoking can quickly age you by as much as five or ten years. Some people could significantly slow down the process of ageing in their faces by making small modifications in their lives. With the right kind of procedure, you will be able to take five years off your appearance overnight. There are lots of ways that we age our faces. All alcohol ages your skin, but there are some which is much worse than the rest.

Here there are ten ways which indirectly aids in ageing.

1. LOTS OF SUGAR/BINGE EATING

A diet which is rich in sugar and carbohydrates such as rice, potatoes, bread can lead to glycation in the skin. This is where sugar molecules connect to the collagen fibres and let them lose their strength and elasticity so that the skin becomes less elastic and more exposed to sun damage.
When you have a high body mass index, it tends to increase your risk of diabetes and heart disease which both impair healing and your strength to fight infection. This, in turn, damages the skin.

2. ALCOHOL

If you just have two glasses of wine a day, it can age your face by years. When you drink more, it means that your blood vessels lose tone, leaving you with perpetual thread veins. It also dehydrates your skin thus leading to dryness, sallowness and deepening of wrinkles.
Crows feet are yet another threat – drinkers are chronically lacking in vitamin A which is necessary to collagen.
Dr De Silva says that Margaritas are loaded with tequila, but they also contain large quantities of sugar and salt. This will aid in ageing.
Beer includes antioxidants and essential B vitamins like niacin and folic acid. You can also drink red wine, which is rich in anti-ageing compound resveratrol.

3. NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP

Your skin will look younger and brighter if you sleep adequately.
You might suffer from complexion problems when you lack sleep. Other than that, you may also find dark circles around the eyes.
Our skin cells, during the day, are fighting against the on-going damage which was caused by dirt, sunlight and pollution.
Sleep is important because, stress hormones lower to normal levels at night, thus providing cells time to repair and restore.

4. CRASH DIETING

Crash dieting is especially dangerous after the age of 30.
It will make some of the natural fat which is present in your face (which keeps you looking young) to dissolve. This can cause a more gaunt look.

The fluctuating hormones can cause problems like acne, even for women over the age of 40.
However, bursting a spot in order to reduce red spots will only dry out the skin, thus leaving a hard and troubled area. You have to treat your entire face with an acne-fighting cleanser or perhaps a moisturiser once a day. This will help you from future breakouts. On the other hand, the bursting of pimples or spots can lead to scarring and infection.

6. GOING TO BED WITHOUT REMOVING YOUR MAKE-UP

The one thing that you should do before going to bed is to remove your makeup.
During the day, environmental toxins such as pollution and dirt buildup in your skin and attack the pores, which can cause complexion problems. When you sleep without cleaning them up, it could cause a lot of problems which includes ageing.

You can say that the primary cause of skin ageing is the sun, especially when it is summer. However, it can also reach you on rainy, cloudy or even snowy days as well.
It is best to apply sunscreen even indoors because skin-damaging UV rays can even enter through glass.

If you do moderate exercise, it can help you in improving the blood circulation and hence enhance the immune system.
This, in turn, will give your face a more fresh and young appearance

10. SMOKING
Giving up on smoking is hard. But, if you do so, it can help you in various ways. The best part is that, if you quit smoking, then your skin will start to repair itself and thus you will able see changes in even the texture of your skin within days of time. If you are not able to give up, then you can at least limit yourself to not more than five cigarettes per day.

Smoking sets stress on the whole body due to the toxic mixture of cyanide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, tar and other chemicals. The brain is compelled to redirect vitamins away from your skin to be used somewhere else.
Nicotine also decreases the blood flow to the lower living layer of skin, or the dermis, which ends in less oxygen being transported. When you give up smoking, you will able to notice the change within six weeks since your toxins get removed, and there will be increased oxygen level.
